Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar Chairperson Maharashtra State Womens commission says,“Only 1 percent of rape case are reported in the police station. Even today our society shifts the entire blame on the victim girl rather than helping her to seek justice. Police to a certain extent do not take these cases seriously thus many enquiries are left mid –way. Rape case is a cognizable offense. The attitude of the society should also change towards the rape victim as she could live respectfully and gather courage to go forward in life.”
