Young executives of Mumbai city toil hard to climb ladders in their professional lives in today’s competitive era. But on the other hand, they feel that it is vital to spend sufficient time with their spouse, family and children. As they believe that a peaceful family life imparts positivity and confidence in a person. Some executives are also compromising to opt for jobs nearer to their home to spend adequate time with family. Far off jobs involve excess traveling, stressful driving, road rage, irritability and bad mood, which could hamper their professional work and also family relations. This thought of executives is due to crippling infrastructure of Mumbai city in form of bad roads, unhealthy environmental factors and frequent bottlenecks. They are not willing to take a far off job and confront these everyday problems. Rather, they prefer to wait and watch for jobs nearer to their homes.
Actor Parmeet Sethi playing ‘Raj Malhotra’ in popular teleserial ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin ‘ feels “ Traveling long distances on Mumbai streets affects me in a major way and with the kind of city roads - it is really stressful. These days, I go to Powai for my shootings .It is an hour drive of purely madness and really makes me more irritable .I do not feel fresh when I am with my family, trauma, bad mood. Family life gives me my own cocoon, support system with lot of love and affection. I am most happiest man on earth when I am with my family.”
Kaushal Patani, an executive of TCS-Mumbai and residing at Malabar hill says “At the end of the day’s job;I am desperate to go home and be with my wife and daughter. They are my ultimate comfort zone; somehow mysteriously I forget all my tiredness and fatigue. Very few people realize but it’s a fact that a family support system cannot be found anywhere. I received many excellent job opportunities but I will not travel for an hour or so for few extra bucks. I rather wait and watch.”
Hemal Zobaliya, a chartered accountant by profession at Nariman Point opines, “ Family life imparts positivity and a power to handle insignificant pressures which every professional faces with in everyday life. So much stress is involved due to mismanaged infrastructure, bad roads, excess traffic. But I feel it also depends on how much understanding you have in common with family .For me 50 percent of one’s success depends on good family life. I have recently got married and am more eager to know about family life “. And he shies away into laughter.
Javed Mohammed, a high court advocate residing at Khar values a peaceful family in his life .He says “The day my family system will go wrong, I will be a dead person. For me, the peace of family is supreme .I will not be able to work if my family gives me stress. That day I would prefer to run away rather than living dead soul. Family is my supreme strength”
Bhaven Shah, diamond merchant at Opera House feels “Family life is very important as it enhances ones personality. I would not like to compromise in matter of family life. Even if I have to go far away for my work,I might wait for a good job near my house. A far off workplace means giving less time to my family. I don’t know, but good family life imparts confidence.”
FAMILY LIFE OFFERS …
Comfort zone and Support system.
Platform to share emotions.
Confidence and Personality growth.
Affection and joy of life.
Positivity.
Power to handle undue pressures.
